Arathi Shetty Ramesh
Coach
"Some people want it to happen, Some wish it would happen. Others make it happen" - Michael Jordan
Arathi Shetty Ramesh, a dedicated sports enthusiast and fitness advocate, has lived in Princeton, New Jersey, for over 15 years with her husband, Ramesh Ramachandra. Their son, Amit Ramesh, works for Amazon in New York City.
Arathi's professional life is as dynamic as her personal one, leading initiatives in Morgan Stanley's Surveillance Strategy Group. A proud Mangalorean, Arathi grew up in Kudremukh, a picturesque mining town about 100 km from Mangalore, now a designated national forest and a hiker's paradise. Surrounded by lush forests and mountains, her childhood environment nurtured her love for physical activity. From an early age, she explored a variety of sports like basketball, sprinting, and table tennis, and by 6th grade, she was representing her school in competitions. In 10th grade, she achieved the pinnacle of her sports career by winning a national level gold medal in table tennis.
However, life shifted toward academics, and sports took a back seat until 2013, when Arathi reignited her passion for fitness during her family’s brief relocation to Bangalore. It was there that she began her running journey, participating in several half marathons and 10Ks, rekindling her competitive spirit. The second phase of her running began when she joined RHWB in Season 9, which opened new doors for her. Since then, she has completed two marathons, one full and one half—and is now stepping into the role of coach for fall Season 12.
As a coach, Arathi brings the lessons she learned from her own journey—both in sports and life. She knows firsthand what it’s like to rediscover passion after a long break, to start fresh, and to push through challenges. Arathi’s experience demonstrates that it’s never too late to take on new challenges and that with discipline and commitment, you can accomplish your fitness goals, no matter where you start.
Her background as a certified 200-hour yoga instructor further enhances her holistic approach to coaching. Arathi emphasizes balance, resilience, and mindful growth in her training, encouraging her runners to listen to their bodies and build mental strength alongside physical stamina. Her story is a testament to perseverance, personal growth, and the idea that fitness is a lifelong journey.
Arathi’s coaching is more than just helping people run marathons. It’s about inspiring her runners to find balance in their lives, set meaningful goals, and view challenges as opportunities to grow. Through her story, she shows that fitness is a journey—one that’s personal, continuous, and deeply rewarding.
As a coach, Arathi draws from her personal journey to inspire others, encouraging them to see their own potential and push beyond it, regardless of where they are in their fitness path.
