The Coach Who Turned a Community Into Runners
Shankar is an experienced coach based in Monroe Township, NJ, who joined RHWB in early 2020. His inspiration to run came from his 10-year-old son, Pratham Rao, one of the fastest Half-Marathon runners in the group.
Shankar is an experienced coach based in Monroe Township, NJ, who joined RHWB in early 2020. His inspiration to run came from his 10-year-old son, Pratham Rao, one of the fastest Half-Marathon runners in the group. His wife, Roopa, is also a runner and a volunteer for various RHWB activities. Shankar works as a Technology Strategist for a software company based in California.
Through his own journey with RHWB, Shankar inspired several children in his community, aged 9-12, to take up running, which in turn motivated their parents and friends to join the 5K/10K programs.
For the past three seasons, Shankar has coached a group of 25-30 runners, helping many kids qualify and participate in school Track and Cross Country events.
Shankar has completed 6 Half Marathons and is set to run a full marathon this season. He believes in process-driven training and achieves results through careful planning and execution.
Shankar enjoys extensive travel for both work and leisure. When he's not traveling or running, he spends time hiking with family and friends. A passionate movie enthusiast, Shankar loves discussing films from Hollywood, Bollywood, Sandalwood, and beyond, keeping everyone engaged with his insights!
